Ridley Scott’s newest thriller
The Counsellor is an American thriller movie directed by Ridley Scott, the original movie screenplay was written by Cormac McCarthy. Michael Fassbender plays the main role in the movie and is known as Counsellor, who agrees to accomplish one drug deal but gets in trouble along with the characters played by Penelope Cruz, Cameron Diaz, Javier Bardem and Brad Pitt. He has to deal with greed, death, human instincts and what consequences they may cause.
The movie begins with the main character and his girlfriend Laura (Penelope Cruz) lying in bed and flirting covered under white blanket. Meanwhile, somewhere in Mexico, cocaine packages are being hidden in a truck for sewage transportation. Counsellor travels to Amsterdam, explaining it as a business trip to his girlfriend, but he plans to meet with a diamond dealer and buy an engagement ring for Laura. When he is back to the United States, he proposes to his girlfriend, and Laura happily accepts the proposal. After some time, he visits a party thrown by Reiner (Javier Bardem) and his girlfriend Malkina (Cameron Diaz). Counsellor and Reiner have a long and interesting conversation, during which Reiner tells Counsellor that he could own a lot of more with his power and position as he owns now. Then Counsellor meets with Westray (Brad Pitt) and talks with him about his interest in drug dealing.
Westray warns Counsellor about the danger of Mexican cartels and what consequences he may suffer if he decides to work with drug dealers. Later, Counsellor bails out of jail his client named The Green Hornet to help him transport the truck full of cocaine to the United States. Meanwhile, Malkina, Reiner’s girlfriend, employs a criminal named The Wireman to steal the drugs. He does it by beheading The Green Hornet with metal wire stretched across the highway. The Wireman picks all needed components which will help him to start the truck. When he gets to the right place, he steals the truck with the cocaine. And now, when the truck is stolen, Westray calls Counsellor and tells him The Green Hornet is dead and the drugs are gone.
All sides think that Counsellor is responsible of the death of the Green Hornet and that he is the one who stole the drugs. Counsellor tries to get some help from Reiner but he doesn’t want to be involved. Later, Reiner is accidentally killed by cartel members and at the same time Laura is being kidnapped. Counsellor contacts Jefe, a very respectable cartel member, to get some information about Laura’s, Reiner’s and Westray’s whereabouts. Jefe ignores his request and tells Counsellor that his days are over. And now the hunting has begun…
The plot is very extensional, filled with sex, blood and provoking scenes. It will take several pages to right the whole storyline down. As it is said, a picture paints a thousand words. Do not miss the chance to enjoy this movie and see your favourite actors in new appearance.
